22 Designs announced today the signing of two new athletes to their team — Bevan Waite and John Olav Folkestad Førland. “We’re super excited to welcome these guys onto our team for this winter,” said 22 Designs Co-Owner Chris Valiante. “Their styles really cover the whole spectrum. But like our other athletes they all share a love of telemark skiing. I think we’ve got the globe covered now.”
Bevan Waite, from California, recently converted a 4×4 van into a tiny mobile home-office for skiing, traveling, and filming. He hopes to have it usable by this season, though it won’t be finished until the end of next summer. He plans to get a few skiers together to start making short backcountry tele films.
“This is the first time I’m signing with a telemark specific brand and I am super stoked to not only represent their company but also the sport in general. That’s what I like about 22 Designs. Sure, they make some of the best telemark bindings on the market, but they are equally interested in spreading telemark culture and hippy/outdoor love. I am thrilled to be a part of that movement.”
“I’m excited about the Outlaw binding’s performance in terms of freestyle telemark skiing,” said John Olav Folkestad Førland who is from Norway. “This brand has been, for me, a quality brand since the day I started telemark skiing.”
This season John has plans to focus on skiing more urban rails. I’m going to work with an amateur photographer named Åsmund Kongsvik Aall who also happens to be a telemark skier. “I hope to get some great shots of telemark specific tricks in an urban environment – stay tuned.”
