Telemark Colorado is putting on a Telemark film Tour this Fall. The film tour debuts November 12th at the River North Brewery in Denver Colorado.
Four short films are included in the tour; Future Freeheel II, King of the Lurk, Why Not. and, submissions from local members of the Tele Tribe.
The first film in the lineup is a solo project from Ty Dayberry, Future Freeheel Pt II. It features what motivates Ty to ski fresh snow with a free heel. Filmed primarily in the Lake Tahoe backcountry this film showcases Ty pushing the limits of what can be done on Freeheel gear.
King of the Lurk, is another solo project, this one by Marshal Thompson. As CJ Coccia puts it, “It’s big mountain wrangling but with one long stick.” Filmed in Silverton, Colorado, Marshal chases deep snow with a low stance.

The third short show is “Why Not.” Filmed in The Woodward at Copper Park with Chris Ewart, Greg Yearsly, Taylor Hennum, and Ty Dayberry. Telemark skiers who dare to venture into the terrain park are often asked, why Tele ski in the park? Would that make it a crime? Well then, Why Not?
The final part of show is the “My Film” competition. Anyone can submit their own Tele video until October 31st. One edit will be chosen by Telemark Colorado and the tour sponsors to be a part of the tour. This gives unknown shredders an opportunity to share their style.
Fueled by the stoke of Freeheel life and some beers, CJ Coccia claimed the Instagram handle @telemark_colorado late one night in 2018. After sharing the idea with two friends and fellow Tele fanatics, Brian Strickland and Erik Jensen, Telemark Colorado, LLC was born.
If you ask one of the founding members what Tele Colo is, their answer will be along the lines of “we are still trying to figure that out.”

TC’s goal is supporting and creating events for the Telemark community but also working to create a new culture to share the wonders of the turn with future Freeheelers. You will find them hosting video premiers, on-snow events, demos and clinics, and creating Telemark apparel. They are an all-inclusive group encouraging anyone to join in with them.
Well known for their Telemark Video competition “Kings and Queens of the Heel”, giving any knee droppers around the world the opportunity to complete challenges from a booklet, scoring points, and creating an edit for the end of the season. The 3rd KQOTH booklet will be live January 1, 2022. You don’t want to miss out!
When asking CJ about the film tour he said they are “creating events we wish already existed.” He wants this to become an annual event, showcasing what is new in Telemark and who is pushing the envelope. Show up and show your support for the Telemark Community.
