| Discrete Signs First Freeheelers To Team |

Salt Lake City-based headwear and apparel company Discrete recently signed three leading freeheel athletes to their brand. Tele gurus Eben Mond, Andy Jacobsen and Charlie Cannon will be joining 40+ skiers and riders as part of the 2010/2011 team. Julian Carr, who founded Discrete in 2003, said he is excited to tighten the company’s bonds with the Tele world. “Discrete is so pumped on Tele skiing,” he said via email. “We love embracing this aspect of the sport. Mond, Jacobsen and Cannon have a wealth of collective experience as competitors and big mountain skiers, we are stoked to see what they bring for 2010/2011.”
Eben Mond, a self-described “fast, aggressive and motivated skier” had an excellent 2009-2010 competition season, and is looking forward to joining the Discrete crew. Well-traveled, Mond has torn up France, Switzerland and Italy on his Tele skis, and will be filming in South America with Sweetgrass productions this August. “Discrete is fired up about adding Eben to our list of winter athletes,” said Carr.
Andy Jacobsen, who grew up in the shadow of the Wasatch mountains, has been dropping a knee since age 15. He has skied in the Peru, Patagonia, Chilkoot, Chugach and the Tetons, and has been the focus of several segments in the Powderwhores’ films, including their upcoming release Television, due out this October. Charlie Cannon a native Oregonian, will also be bringing his nonchalant, gutsy style to the team. A pioneer of “Jugglemarking"—juggling while Telemarking—Charlie skis over 100 days a year and has made tracks in Japan, British Columbia, Idaho and Utah. Carr is looking to expand the Telemark component of the team, and wants to expand the Discrete brand to artists, snowboarders, surfers and skaters. “Discrete is made up of people who are humble and dynamic, but still not afraid to let loose with a cocktail,” he said. Speaking about the rising number of Tele professionals, Carr had words of encouragement: “Your sport is growing! Have passion and stay hungry!” -Andrew Freeman
