Telemark Skiers Converge On Breckenridge For Annual Slopestyle Event
Last weekend highlighted some of the most progressive telemark park riding to date. Competitor Kjell Ellefson noted, “This is the premiere event in the country for freeride telemark. The culmination of all aspects of park skiing along with the extensive cash purse makes for an incredible weekend!”
The final day of the competition weekend made way for the slopestyle event. John Olav Folkestad Førland had an impressive run to hold down third place and $100 that included a disaster 270 onto a huge flat down box, a cork 720, 900, and a stout rail performance on the bottom features. Dayberry put down yet another great run to claim second place and $250 with a similar disaster 270, hand-drag cork 540, and a steezy switch 720 on the bottom air. The top dog on the podium this time around was Kjell Ellefson with a combination of style in the air and a technically sound rail performance that included his textbook k-fed on the bottom double kink that allowed him to walk away with another $500 in prize money. It was a weekend filled with the most noteworthy athletes in the world of telemark park riding throwing down some of the most technically and stylistically impressive moves in the sport and it was all laced with some really significant prize money. Following the event Ty Dayberry said,“After this competition, I realize how much I need to step my game up for next year's gig. Telemark evolution has just stepped up to a new level." -Alex Paul This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
