Based on the initial success of the Switchback binding, Voile is introducing the SX telemark binding for Fall 2008. The Switchback broke new ground for Voile in several areas, including the use of stainless steel for the toeplate, and a free pivot for improved touring efficiency.

When it's just about the down, Voile's SX fits the bill. |
The SX borrows from the Switchback’s elegant simplicity, keeping the wrap around construction of a stainless steel toe plate for durability. With the SX the toeplate is riveted to the riser platform, thereby eliminating the free pivot, screws, anti-ice plates, and weight. A 3 degree ramp angle on the toe shim helps improve downhill performance by speeding up turn engagement. Although the SX does not inherit the Switchback’s touring freedom, it maintains the downhill performance and it’s $100 less expensive.
According to Dave Grissom, Vice President of Voile, “the SX is for telemarkers who don’t want to compromise anything except tourability. It inherits the durability of our time-tested Hardwire heel assembly combined with a stainless steel toe plate, yet it is light weight, and economical.”
As you might have guessed, the SX replaces the Hardwire binding beginning Fall 2008.
