After a tremendous amount of anticipation, Rottefella has launched the Freedom binding. Rottefella’s Freedom is an NTN compatible telemark binding with an unprecedented range of motion when in its free-pivot tour mode. The Freedom also boasts progressive resistance while skiing down for maximum performance in loose snow or mixed conditions.

The Freedom complements Rottefella’s NTN Freeride binding to ensure that there is an NTN binding to suit anyone’s taste. Says Rottefella CEO Christer Johnsen, “We constantly strive to develop our products, and Freedom is designed with our hearts and love for skiing. The last couple of years, we have seen an increasing demand from skiers who wish to climb to the top to find the perfect runs, away from the lifts and gondolas. This group of skiers has been without a tailor made binding, but initial feedback on the Freedom prototypes has been overwhelmingly positive. We are really looking forward to bringing Freedom to the market, and to further develop this binding along with our customers.”

Weighing in at slightly over 3 lbs per pair, the Freedom is just about the lightest telemark, touring rig you can find when coupled wih the light weight of NTN boots — because of their lack of a duckbill It looks like a perfect option for those who want the stability afforded by the NTN system while maintaining a setup optimized for touring.
